Kofi Kinaata Receives GH¢10,000 from Vodafone as VGMA22 Green Award Winner

Ghanaian musician and songwriter Kofi Kinaata was awarded the Vodafone Green Award during the VGMA22 ceremony. The award was launched by the firm to recognize and support music artistes who use their music in promoting environmental awareness and sustainability. For winning the award, Kinaata has received a cash price of GH¢10,000 for his song ‘Illegal Fishing’.

Kofi Kinaata To Finally Release Debut Album

The song which was co-produced with the Ministry of Fisheries and the Ghana Sustainable Fisheries Management Project was intended to create awareness on marine littering and uncover unlawful practices within the fishing industry.

While giving the award during the VGMA which was held at the Accra International Conference Centre, Geta Striggner-Quartey, Vodafone’s Director of Legal and External Affairs indicated that there is need for a combined effort in protecting the environment.

His statement reads in parts: "Imagine a world without clean lakes, rivers, and oceans. Can we survive? It is our collective responsibility to nourish our planet and keep it safe for the future. At Vodafone, we have chosen to embark on a journey to save the planet but we cannot do it alone, we need each and everybody to support this crusade. We believe that together, we can make the desired impact."

The ‘Behind The Scenes’ crooner” also broke the record by winning Songwriter of the Year for the 4th time in a row beating his colleagues Diana Hamilton, Adina, Joe Mettle, Abiana, and Epixode.
