Zambian musician Tbwoy has eulogized former President Kenneth Kaunda as a great hero who was instrumental in developing Zambia.

In a post on his Instagram page, Tbwoy recalled interacting with the President and at one point floating the idea of having Dr Kaunda celebrated by all Zambians just like South Africans celebrate the late Nelson Mandela.

“In 2015 we went to visit him as the Zambia association of musicians members and just there an idea for making a big birthday party came on my mind where we could take the party to the stadium and celebrate him like they celebrate Mandela in South Africa,” he wrote on his Instagram page.

“I shared the idea with everyone including his family and @njoyaT then was ZAM president took it up to himself and organized his birthday party the following year which was attended by high level officials from around Africa and Me and @Tseanbaila were also at the event,” he stated.

Tbwoy described the late President as a true African who generations will learn of posthumously. He also called for proper documentation of Zambia’s history for the sake of the generations to come.

“He was a true African man who did a lot for Africa unfortunately many will learn only learn about it after his death. Zambia needs to pull itself together in terms of documentation. We needed a movie while the big man was still alive,” he said.
