Wizkid’s Made in Lagos album and Davido’s A Better Time album have both earned a nomination at the South African Music Awards, SAMAs. 

Announced a few days ago, the nomination is for the category Rest of Africa for artistes and projects of which are non-South African.

Nigeria is the only country in the category represented by two artistes while the other spots were filled by Kenya’s finest band, Sauti Sol for their project “Midnight Train”, Zimbabwean recording artiste, Buffalo Souljah for his “Unity Album” and Zimbabwean singer and songwriter, Berita for her album “Songs in The Key of Love”. 

Although Davido and Wizkid have other artistes in the category to contend with, they are the favourites for the award and it will be an interesting turn of events to see either one of them scoop the award this year.

Definitely not the first time they’ll be both nominated in the same category for an award but then because of the heavy rivalry, it’ll always be a conversation when one beats the other to an award. 

This year’s event will be the 27th edition of the award show which is held annually to celebrate outstanding music artistes in the country for the year in view.
