Azawi Opens up on Working with Vinka, Winnie Nwagi at Swangz Avenue

Fast-rising Ugandan singer and songwriter Azawi has hailed her fellow Swangz Avenue label mates; Vinka and Winnie Nwagi noting that that they have played a critical role in her musical growth.

According to Azawi, she enjoys a cordial relationship with Vinka and Nwagi, to an extent that she considers them her sisters.

She further noted that the two have been instrumental in marketing and promoting her latest project dubbed ‘My Year’.

"They see me as their baby sister and I'm grateful to have worked with such great artists.

"If they win, I automatically win with them; same goes to if something bad happens to them, it happens to me too because they are my sisters and we belong to the same family. We face all challenges and victories together because we are a family," she said.

On claims that she is being groomed to replace Winnie Nwagi at the label, Azawi dismissed the claims noting that her management does not operate that way. She maintained that they are all happy at Swangz, adding that none of them has expressed desire to leave the franchise.

"A management doesn't work like that; that when they sign a new artist, someone has to go. The people outside may see that but when you join the circle, you realize this is a space and opportunity for everyone," Azawi divulged.
