Nigerian music star, Reekado Banks has called on citizens to eschew violence and embrace peace. The singer like many other concerned Nigerians shared a message via his social media pages in reaction to the current state of insecurity, reported kidnapping and killings going in several parts of the country.
Over the past few weeks, there have been a number of reports emanating from the east, west, south and northern parts of the country. If it’s not kidnapping, it’s some banditry violence and attacks, killings etc.
Reekado Banks however thinks that with the way things are going that a civil war is looming.
“Nigeria is on the brink of a civil war & the politicians are doing everything to enable it because their schemes thrive in havoc & when there’s a divide. As citizens, who will suffer the most from this impending disaster, we must do everything within our power to champion peace,” he wrote.
The singer proceeded to share several tabloid headlines which reported Banditory killing students in Kaduna, gunmen setting police station ablaze and killing five in Imo state, kidnapping of university students in Benue state, Boko Haram attack in Borno state etc.
A lot of Nigerian celebrities are now speaking out on the state of the nation and hopefully, the government takes active measures soon enough to stabilize the country.
