Wizkid Impersonator, WiseKid Racks Up N30m from Album Streams

An artist named Wisekid has been cashing out monthly since October when he released an album he called Lasgidi Made.

Wisekid did not only adopt the name “Wisekid” to confuse fans, he did not stop at naming his own album, Lasgidi Made but he went ahead to copy Wizkid’s Made in Lagos album tracklist naming all songs from the Made in Lagos album after his own also.

The “counterfeit Wizkid” had already gotten millions of streams from making people think he is Wizkid and also listening to his album Lasgidi Made thinking it was Made in Lagos.

An excited Wisekid took to social media to share his apple music numbers which was about 9.3m listens and 1.2k song purchases. He probably was too excited to remember that he was living off making people think his songs were Wizkid’s and definitely fans would come for him.

Like you would expect, Wisekid attracted attention with this and he has since already changed his social media handles which were previously even made to look like Wizkid’s username.

Making N30m monthly for putting out an album and naming it in such a way that would fool listeners is just about what Wisekid wanted and more when he thought of this dubious strategy.
