Macky Advises Upcoming Artistes How to Succeed in Zambian Music Industry

Hip-hop star Macky 2 has given nuggets of wisdom to upcoming artistes in Zambia. He told them that even with their great talent, it means nothing if people cannot relate to their content.

Macky 2 advised that even with good content, the key role a new artiste must play is convincing people why they should listen to their music.

“Your amazing talent means nothing if the people can’t relate. Study the game and figure out the best art you can make for this market…Just convince the people, everything else will fall in place.

“Your music will only play in your bedroom if you don’t realize that this business is about the people…and sometimes realizing that means you have to change a lot of things about your style,” he advised.

He recalled using platforms he had in life to popularize his music. He says he treated it like a business which is why he thrived.

“Don’t Take it too Personal, it’s a business… I had to play the game to get to the top. Once my platform was established, I began to use it to say what really matters. In show business, it's a long road to ethnic individuality, but if I did it…so can you,” he added.
