Inside Alikiba’s Strategy to Target French Fans

Celebrated Tanzanian artist Alikiba has explained why he occasionally uses French in his music. This comes in the wake of the artist releasing the ‘Infidèle’ single, a French word for infidelity.

This is the second time Kiba has used French in his song after the ‘Aje’ single. Speaking during a recent interview, Alikiba revealed that it is a strategy meant to reach the global French audience.

''Nilifikiria tu kuwa jamii ya watu wengi duniani wanaongea kifaransa hivyo nikaona ni jambo zuri, japo kwenye matamshi ilikuwa kazi kubwa sana na nitoe shukrani kwa msichana mmoja anaitwa Aaliyah, wakati nikiwa Afrika Kusini naandika huu wimbo alinisaidia sana," said Alikiba.

The Kings Music boss added that despite incorporating French in his music, his understanding of the language is still low. He notes that, for the sake of releasing new music, he has been forced to learn basic French words. '

'Kiukweli mimi sio mfaransa ila nimejifunza, nilichoimba kwenye kipande cha kifaransa ni kama marudio tu ya verse ya kwanza ila imebadilika lugha tu, lakini ujumbe ni ule ule," Alikiba added.

In the ‘Infidèle’ single, Alikiba has incorporated longer versions of French lyrics. In a previous interview, the singer had revealed that data indicates that his music has attracted interest from the French audience despite singing in Swahili.
