Tanzanian rapper G Nako is the latest musician to weigh in on the ongoing debate about the domination of Nigerian music in the country.

In bongo, local musicians have raised concerns that Nigerian music is receiving more airplay in Tanzania at the expense of local content.

Several musicians have been proposing solutions on how to curb influence. However, according to G Nako, it is high time musicians drop club bangers consistently.

The rapper notes that a gap in releasing new music gives room for foreign invasions.

“Ngoma inafaa zije mfululizo...unaona kama Tanzania hatuna banger za kutosha za kufeed Kwa viwanja vya starehe kama kuna watu wengi wanaingilia,"said G Nako.

G Nako added that he plans to lead the way by dropping hits consistently through collaborations.

The singer is currently flying high with his 'Tumeokoka' hit featuring Shatta and Billnas.

The debate on foreign music influence has been gaining momentum with DJs accusing musicians of not releasing enough content.

Stakeholders believe that promoting bongo music in Tanzania is the only way to grow the industry.

There have been calls to give Nigerian music total blackout since it's rare for bongo music to be played in the West African country.
