KENYA: End of An Era as Radio Queen Kalekye Mumo Hangs Her Gloves Leaving the Radio World for Good
6 July 2016

Things were a bit different this morning in the Radio Universe thanks to the absence of KISS FM presenter and radio queen Kalekye Mumo from the airwaves.
This follows her announcement yesterday that she would be hanging her gloves and retiring from the radio world after a decade of dominating the airwaves.
Being one of the most prolific female radio presenters in the country, her absence will surely be felt and know only one question lingers, what next?
Kalekye has constantly been at the top of the headlines this year first with her shocking transformation which followed losing 40kgs at the age of 40 and secondly her star studded 40th birthday party.
It was at this birthday party that she announced it would be a big year for her but no one would have pictured her leaving radio.

Speaking about her time at Radio Africa and KISS FM she said, “It's been a fantastic 10yr journey... Talking to different people, being part of their lives and even more the experience selling brands on air has taught me so much.”
“And now after beginning the year with big milestones... I turned 40, lost 40kgs and decided to keep it big by opening a PR company. I feel it's time to give more of my talent and experience to brands and clients directly and the first such brand to believe in me is Kericho Gold," she said in a statement.
As for the organizations Chief Executive Patrick Quarcoo it was all about looking forward into the future.
“We wish her well in her future endeavors. We are looking at new long-term changes to grow KISS FM,” he said.
Now mid-morning radio presenter Adelle Onyango who is seen as the voice of the youth at the station with a high following on social media has been asked to replace her former compatriot.
