KENYA: Get Ready to Time-Travel Back to the Sweet 80s This Weekend Exclusively at the Cake Art Affair

The Cake Art Affair is back this time with an interesting twist. This affair will be a trip down memory lane (For them that are old enough) and a Time Travel (For the 90s Babes).
We are creating a 70s & 80s experience just to give you a taste of what the Music, Fashion and Social Life was like back then.
As is tradition in Cake Art Affair, there will be amazing Cake Designs and Decorations on display by young (home) bakers and of course for the attendants there will be a lot of cake to sample so prepare your taste buds and get ready for some sugar rush.
Cake always needs something smooth to go down with, so how about the finest blend of soul, funk, Rhumba and Benga music that will be served by our official turn-tablist, DJ Essentials. Not to mention an amazing line-up of performing artists.
This affair’s lineup remains true to our promise of promoting up and coming artists and includes;

Zikki - Zikki is a four-piece band that has their eyes set on overcoming myriad odds in their quest for a cherished dream to become full time artistes. The band is known for their debut single 'Take it Slow' featuring Jaguar.
Red Acapella - Red Acapella is an urban folk band that formed in 2007 during a volunteer program with Red Cross. The band that began with four singers has since morphed to just two. Well known for their 'Ka Gava' single, the band seeks to give modern renditions to Kenyan hit songs.
KIU - KIU, which is Swahili for Thirst, is an all-girl band comprising Tracy, Rosa and Pauline. Through the years their music has evolved to be inspired by the different interests and approach to music the girls take, all characterized by their signature harmonies

Shanky - Shanky is spoken word artist and describes herself as a spontaneous human being and an enthusiast of life and everything that entails. She draws inspiration from life experience when penning her pieces. Her ultimate goal as a performer is to inspire souls to be more successful than they are.
Miss Kemunto - Kemunto, popularly known as Miss Kemunto, is a soulful and talented vocalist and song writer. She was recently recognized as one of the most budding female vocalists by KenyaBuzz.
Ken Mungai - Ken Mungai is a singer/ songwriter, performing and just recently recording artist. His known for his enormous vocal talent and unique style of music that is a fusion of afro pop with a touch of jazz and soul.
Likizo Band - Likizo is an upcoming quintet based in Nairobi. With 5 diverse members, the band seeks to bring out a new feel into the music scene. Their blend of 4 vocalists, rapper and the use of Saxophone and Violin creates amazing music
Raaay - Raaay is a Nairobi born singer, song writer and Afro-fusion whose music blends a variety of authentic Kenyan and African genres. His repertoire consists of Benga, Chakacha, rhumba, zouk and Afrobeat.
Wordbenda - Wordbenda is a creative performer that expresses himself through spoken word, music and film. He shapes, stretches, moves and molds words through poetry to tell tales.

And of course come dressed the part for the Time Travelling event, after all you don’t want to look weird with your futuristic skinny jeans. So the dress code for this Affair is Vintage - (70s and 80s wear but with a modern touch/twist/feel).
Tickets are going for 800 Advance and 1000 at the Gate.

We welcome you for a thrilling and a nostalgic afternoon on 19th June, 2016 at Arboretum (Lower Grounds) for THE THROWBACK. Event begins at 11am and ends at 8pm.
