EXCLUSIVE: Getting Intimate With Radio Queen Adelle #MdundoCelebDate

Ms. Adelle Onyango is no doubt one of biggest names in radio but like many she did not start from the top. It was her hard work, perseverance and of course her chirpy personality that got her to where she is today and has of course kept her there.

We recently had the chance to introduce Adelle to one of her die-hard fans during our weekly Celeb Dates. It was also our chance to get to know the radio queen a bit more intimately, and what a blast we had.

Her voice is heard by millions across Kenya every day and she even commands an army of followers on social media called #TeamAdelle (you do not want to mess with these guys), which strangely comprises form the upbeat Nairobian to the villager in Kakamega, she could probably run in 2017 and win by a landslide.

But I digress. Adelle is not only the voice of modern radio she’s also a true lover of music and in efforts to diversify herself she has dabbled in music, with two songs out ‘Faded’ and ‘She’.

Adelle is a big supporter of local and African music and despite the fact that many Kenyans believe local music to be boring she believes that those people are not paying close attention.

She always plays the music that she likes on her show (supporting local talent if you will) and even during her personal time. And yes just like any other normal Kenyan girl we did discover that she is a sucker for Sauti Sol and during their album launch she was backstage singing to all their songs word for word.

But her music taste does not end with Sauti Sol, we asked her who else she listened to and you’d be surprised that the list extends all the way to rap music. And you could be wondering who she likes more between Khaligraph Jones and Octopizzo, well for that you have to download Adelle’s playlist on our Mdundo App to find out.
