KENYA: Top Celebs Come Out in Defense of 'Immoral' Project X

‘No One Goes Back Home a Virgin..’ it was the party slogan that had many young Kenyans (especially Team Mafisi) hungry with anticipation for what was going to be the biggest party ever. But on the flip side the rest of the nation was angry and pretty much wanted the organizers burned at the stake.

And last week the Kenya Police declared that they were on a manhunt for the organizers and would do anything in their power to make sure that the so called ‘Project X’ did not happen.

However some of the industries entertainers have strangely come out to defend the organizers saying that they see nothing wrong with the event happening.

"Idle people are all over social media running their fingers about ‪#‎ProjectX! Hahaha...Like it's the 1st time the party's going down. Isn't that what house parties are nowadays anyway? And wait...Hold up...When did Kenyans get morals? I must have missed the memo. To Dero & Crew, get your money up!!! All we have are barking dogs and hypocrites! (sic)," wrote ‘Hypeman’ turned Emcee DNG.

Radio presenter Ciru Muriuki wrote, "I just heard someone talking about that Project X party, saying that it must not be allowed to happen because Kenya "is a Christian country". Um. No. We may be the majority, but we don't live in a religious state. Also, where is all that Christian outrage when politicians steal, commit rape...and get away with it?"

Eventually the backlash forced the organizers of the event to come out and declare the event cancelled for obvious reasons.

"To all our loyal party rockers, we would like to inform you to peacefully understand us on this cancellation step of this event due to the command from the law. It’s very saddening that the media has portrayed the event 'Project X' in a manner that is wanting, branding the event as a sex party through the basis of one sentence 'No one goes back home a virgin' clearly shows how some media houses can be narrow minded and try to make a story in order to make an extra buck even when all details portray the event where young adults can meet up, socialize and have a good time."

"The photos and captions used were for promotional use only, we fail to understand how we would widely market an event for guys to come and have sex. It's completely against the values we believe in. To the parents, we are deeply sorry that you had to view the event as an immoral and unethical abuse of our freedom to have fun, the event is based on guys socializing, having fun and new exposure to different people. We put up the charges at Sh500 so as to allow everyone from every background to have fun," they added in defense of their slogan.
