KENYA: 5 Celebrities Who Launched Their Careers Online #NeverMissAMoment
6 February 2016
Fame, money and power. The three most envied traits in this world. We might deny it but we all want these things, why else do you have so many selfies on your Instagram account?
Sometimes it can be an easy road to becoming famous and other times you literally have to sweat blood to get there.
But one thing that you will definitely need to do is create an opportunity for yourself to make your dreams come true and the people we look at today did exactly that and more so they did it online.
Here are their inspiring stories;
Lupita’s Younger Brother

His sister Lupita walked away with an Oscar that night but it was Peter Nyong’o that walked away the big winner that night.
That night he might have known it but his face was forever painted in what is today thought of as the most famous selfie of all time. Even Lupita’s face wasn’t as visible as his in this picture.
The selfie had some of the biggest names in Hollywood, from Brad Pit, Angelina Jolie, Bradley Cooper, Ellen DeGeneres, Julia Roberts, Jenifer Lawrence, Jared Leto, Channing Tatum, Kevin Spacey, Lupita Nyong’o (of course) and thanks to his bold acts that night Peter Nyong’o also became one of those famous names.
After that night there was talk that he should even get his own talk show. This young man really made an impression on the world.
Talk of stealing the glory from your sister, good job Peter.
Julius Yego

Before becoming the record holder for the Javelin sport (which is not so popular in Kenya), or even becoming the first Kenyan to participate in Javelin at the Olympics, Julius Yego was but a simple man at home with a simple dream.
But then he picked up his phone and went on YouTube to learn all the essentials he needed to make his dream come true. That is why he is known as the YouTube athlete.
This is Ess (Sharon Mundia)

From posting videos on YouTube and giving fashion advice on social media, This is Ess is today one of the most respected names in fashion today.
Over time she even landed herself some lucrative deals with some leading beauty and fashion brands in the country. And to think all it took was first advising girls how to apply make up on themselves.
Today there is a huge surge of ladies becoming fashion bloggers on YouTube and I guess we know who to thank for that, don’t we Ess.
Masaku
Perhaps one of Kenya’s biggest internet trolls, Masaku is known for one thing putting a smile on people’s faces with his hilarious yet witty jokes.
No one actually knows how this guy looks like but we all love him and his ability to turn literally anything into a joke.
The road to being a social media bigwig is also an option and all it takes is that first tweet or post.
Rhymaholic

He is not one of the biggest names in music but he still manages to rack in more than 50,000 downloads every now and then on Mdundo.com.
How does he do it, well it all boils down to hard work and well social media. Rhymaholic is very popular on Facebook with thousands of fans who always download his Music on Mdundo making him one of the highest earning musicians on Mdundo.
So where am I going with this? Well thanks to the wonder that is the internet, there are many ways in this era that we can make out dreams come true and what many of the youth today lack is that opportunity. But Safaicom is making it easier for you to stay online for longer so that you don’t miss your chance.
With the new ‘Data Bundle Roll-over’ feature on Safaricom, you can extend the validity of your data bundles by simply buying another data bundle package before the old one expires.
For example, if you bought a 7 day, 30 day or 90 day bundle and it is about to expire, all you need to do is buy a data bundle package of the same type (if you had a 7 day bundle buy another 7 day bundle) and the remaining data will be carried over to your new bundle.
