UGANDA: Why You Won't Be Listening To 'Beat Murderer' By Clansmen Anytime Soon

New reaching our desk today indicates that Mukono Hip Hop group "The Clan" which comprises of rappers Jibo (Najib Kiggundu), Benezeri (Benezeri Chibita), KSL (Joel Kisalu) and Chief ( Dennis Kagyezi) who just released hot jam "Beat Murderer" are in hot soup for their new release possibly facing jail time or pay heavy fines.

According to sources, one of Clansmen's members, Jibo, presented the instrumental of "Beat murderer" with the chorus, to the group and proposed that it be used. He claimed that he had permission from the producer and singers to use the song.

The group members tried to trace Shareef but in vain. The song was then recorded at Urban aksent studio and released as Clansmen's first single. Benezeri, the founder of the group, apparently sent it out to a few people on whatsapp. It's then that he was told by some music enthusiasts that not only had a song been previously recorded on the same instrumental, a video had also been released. Benezeri then sought out Shareef more earnestly and found his contact. They tried to resolve the issue amicably but Shareef's camp was being indecisive. Benezeri then went on to promote the song on social media. As the song began gaining popularity, Shareef demanded for a meeting.

Clansmen were represented by one of the founders of The Clan. Shareef's camp set their terms which included, amongst others, compensation worth millions of shillings. Also the producer that recorded the song feigned ignorance and denied ever giving the instrumental to Jibo. The Clan then decided to take down the song from all their social media platforms amidst violent threats from Shareef's camp that they were going to sue The Clan for stealing their instrumental.

All this is in spite of the fact that Clansmen were set to release the music video of Beat Murderer before the end of the week.

However like they say the movie star does not die in their own movie, the Clansmen is now reportedly back in studio recording more songs, one of which is rumored to be directed at Shareef and his camp.
