KENYA: From the Mic to the Canvas, Rapper Abbas Kubaff Reveals His Plan to Become Kenya's Picasso

From musical art to visual art rapper Abbas Kubaff has a master plan to becoming Kenya’s very own Picasso.

Now many of Abbas’s fans already know that he occasionally does visual art in the tune of Graffiti. And before any of you asks, yes Graffiti is actually recognized as Urban art.

But as he revealed recently his art is not only limited to spray cans and walls on the street, Abbas is also knowledgeable in the ways of the paintbrush and canvas.

Speaking to the Star’s Word Is, the ‘Bamba’ hit maker revealed what inspires his visual art and it’s probably not what you think.

“I get inspired more when my mind is in a state of crisis. This is when I get top ideas that I easily turn to artistic energy, be it in music or on canvas. I already have 20 pieces but my target is to hit 100 masterpieces and then show them to the world before the year ends,” he said.

The rapper also revealed that his art-work is set to be exclusively showcased at the ‘Art Attack’ exhibition for a whole week which will conclude in a gala night of hip-hop performances from the best rappers in the region.

“Right now, I am working on a specific subject called 'Light'. On my paintings, I am showing how important light is. It's a very deep subject.”

Musically Abbas also revealed that he would soon be releasing a surprise song featuring his British wife, Anna English, in a new track that will be in his upcoming album called ‘Dobeez’. Not only that but he also revealed a new project he’s been working on with Victoria Kimani.

“I am a happy dad and a responsible dude now. After setting up my own sound and studio, Nine Inch Records, I feel more happier and busier. In two weeks time, I will be releasing my collabo video with Victoria Kimani for the song 'Party Like A Moda' and another one with my wife titled Tengleza. My wife is a serious rapper. My song with her will be something different and real crazy. It will not be the old routine kind of boring stuff!”
