KENYA: 'I've Been Living in Fear' Popular Songbird Shares Her Emotional Story of Why She Quit Music

They say stars fall the hardest, and no one understands this more than Karen Lucas a.k.a Kaz. The once big name in the Kenyan music industry has no faded into nothingness.

The once fast rising star made her way into fame at the pan-African ‘Project Fame’ reality show held in South Africa in 2014.

After the show she walked right into a collaboration with one of Kenya’s biggest rap sensations, CMB Prezzo in their collaboration dubbed ‘Tupendane’.

This you would think would have launched her music career even further but instead it ended up being quite the opposite.

Without any new content out, Kaz’s name faded into the background and she was soon but a past memory.

Now the songstress has come out to share her story of where she’s been and why she’s not been making new music as many expected.

“I have been so afraid of the whole world and what they think of me. I have lied to myself that I didn’t care what they thought yet the culmination of all these fears has ruled and partially ruined my life. I am terrified to go on stage, hence this almost never ending musical hiatus. I feel like for the last 3 or 4 years, I have been waiting for life to begin,” she wrote.

“I’ve wanted to quit. In fact don’t get me wrong, I have quit several times. I often call myself a quitter. The fear that lives in me was even too scared to admit how scared I am. What would people think? But here I am today, taking one step. I’m singing. I’ve never believed myself to be the best, actually as time went by I convinced myself of how untalented I was and even began believing it. But now I’m fighting back! I want my confidence back,” she concluded

Now she says she’s confronting her fears and her first step is by doing a cover of her favorite song. Check it out below;
