The World Mourns After Death of Music Legend David Bowie

For the true music lovers among us, the name David Bowie is not new. Bowie is one of the few artists whose music transcends genres and is a joy to listen to no matter which genre you’re loyal to.
So it is a true loss as we and many other headlines announce today the passing of the great David Bowie.
Bowie died at the age of 69 after an 18 month battle with cancer, his publicist Steve Martin announced today on social media. Though it still remains unclear what type of cancer the singer suffered from.
"David Bowie died peacefully today surrounded by his family after a courageous 18 month battle with cancer. While many of you will share in this loss, we ask that you respect the family's privacy during their time of grief," read the statement posted on the singer’s official social media accounts.
Bowie's death has been the regular subject of internet hoaxes for the last several years. So the news came as a shock to fans and industry insiders when it was confirmed.
"Very sorry and sad to say it's true. I'll be offline for a while. Love to all," his son, Duncan Jones, tweeted.
