KENYA: Gospel Singer Ringtone Announces His Retirement From Music and Reveals His Next Step

The Kenyan Gospel industry has lost one of its biggest names after popular singer Ringtone announced this past Saturday through social media that he is quitting music.

The singer who is famed for his hit song ‘Pamela’ said in his post, “It’s been a long journey of success from nothing to the top. I have enjoyed every moment of my career and now finally I have decided to quit the music. Thank you all those who supported me. Thank you for the moments.”

This announcement comes after months of the singer’s name being shrouded in controversies. But according to him, this is not the last we’ve heard of him.

Speaking to The Standard’s column, Monday Blues, the singer who was away in Uganda with his strategy team said he would make an announcement on his next big move in an open air concert that he’s planning to go down in Kisii County.

"I will say everything during the concert. I have been listening to my followers and whatever they want me to do, even if it is to join politics, I will do so," he told MondayBlues.

From Gospel to politics, though this may be seen as a controversial change of scenery it will not be the first time this is happening.

Many Pastors and Bishops, among them Bishop Magret Wanjiru have joined the political circuit and had great success.

But be sure to stay posted with Mdundo news to find out the next step for the singer.
