NEWS (KENYA): A Look Back at the Biggest Winners and Losers at the First Pulse Music Video Awards 2015

The eagerly awaited first edition of the Pulse Music Video Awards finally went down on Friday, December 11 with Sauti Sol coming off as the biggest winners of the night after bagging two awards on the night that was.

But as always where there is a winner, there’s always one that went home empty handed. Here’s the complete list of the winners and losers of the 2015 Pulse Music Video Awards.

For the Best Group Video of the Year, amazingly H_Art The Band’s performance in ‘Nikikutazama’ beat Sauti Sol’s ‘Nishike’, P-Unit ‘Weka Weka’ and The Kansol in ‘Dabo Tap.

But even with their loss in that category it still proved to be Sauti Sol’s night as they scooped up two awards for Best Collaboration of the Year 2015, ‘Nerea ‘ with Amos and Josh, as well as the YouTube Video of the Year 2015, ‘Sura Yako’ beating Blaqy with ‘Money Maker’, ‘Fundimentals’ by Ken Wa Maria and ‘Koo Koo’ by Elani.

In the previous category (Best Collaboration), Sauti Sol beat Yvonne Darcq & Victoria Kimani in ‘Ooh La La Oui Oui’, ‘Fimbo Ya Pili’ by Grandpa Government and hit song ‘Eish’ featuring Buganya, Kristoff, Ulopa, Petra, Yvonne Darcq & Abbas.

Even video vixens were on the list as Vera Sidika took the Video Vixen of the Year Award home with her performance in Nigerian song Ebeano (KCEE, Skiibii & Harry Song).

Other artists that won big were, Bahati, for Best Male Video of the Year Award trumping compatriot Willy Paul. King Kaka (ft. Amos and Josh, Promised Land) also managed to beat competition from Khaligraph (ft. DJ Crème, I Am King) to pick the Best Cinematography of the Year Award.

The New Artist of The Year went to Dufla in ‘Tempo’ with the biggest loser being Cece Sagini in her song ‘I’m a Doer’ ft. Octopizzo.

Avril took home the Female of the Year Award while Papa Denis danced home with the best Choreographed video of the Year.

The Breakthrough Artist of the Year was Ndegz ft. Madtraxx in ‘Twende Nyumbani’.
