The Prince Helly Foundation (PHF) today organized a spirited football match between _AMONONENO FC_ and _KEM FC_ at _Amononeno P/S Playground_ in Abako, Alebtong District. The game ended in a _0:0 draw_ after 90 minutes of competitive play.
The match marks the first in a series of community football competitions being organized by PHF to promote youth talent, unity, and healthy lifestyles under its motto _"One Family, One Voice"_.
A Tightly Contested Match
Both teams came into the game with strong support from fans and community members who filled the grounds at Amononeno Primary School.
From kickoff, AMONENO FC, playing on home ground, pressed high and created several chances but were denied by a disciplined KEM FC defense. KEM FC responded with quick counter-attacks but also failed to break the deadlock.
Despite numerous attempts, clear-cut opportunities, and last-minute saves at both ends, neither side could find the back of the net. The final whistle blew with the scoreboard reading _AMONENO FC 0 - 0 KEM FC_.
Prince Helly Takes Charge as Centre Referee
Adding excitement to the day, the match was officiated by _Prince Helly himself_, the CEO of Prince Helly Foundation and a born of Abako, Alebtong District.
Speaking after the game, Prince Helly said stepping onto the pitch as centre referee was part of PHF’s commitment to be present with the community.
"Football brings us together. Today was not about winning or losing, it was about discipline, teamwork, and giving our young people a platform to showcase talent. A 0:0 draw shows both teams played with respect and organization," Prince Helly said.
He also applauded both teams for fair play and thanked fans, teachers, and parents for turning up to support the initiative.
PHF’s Commitment to Youth Through Sports
The match is part of PHF’s broader youth engagement strategy following the recent launch of _PHF UNITED FC_. The foundation says such competitions will be used to identify talent, promote education and health messages, and keep youth away from drugs and idleness.
Community leaders present praised PHF for investing in grassroots sports and called for more support in terms of equipment, coaching, and mentorship for local teams.
What’s Next
PHF confirmed that more inter-village matches will be scheduled throughout August as part of its community outreach programs. Registration for _PHF UNITED FC_ is also ongoing at the PHF Secretariat in Abako.
Both AMONONENO FC and KEM FC were commended for their sportsmanship and will return for the next round of fixtures.
