The sultry Harry Kimani joins Mdundo family
18 December 2013
Harry Kimani who is one of Kenya’s top afro-fusion artists has officially signed up with Mdundo.
Growing up as a music lover teaching himself how to play the guitar through watching his elder brother perform, the ‘Haiya’ superstar has been missing in action for a while now but recently made a comeback into the music scene by participating in the ongoing Coke Studio Africa show.
Immediately after releasing his single ‘African Woman’ which received a lot of airplay on radio stations and several rave reviews alike, he was encouraged to go back to the studio and record an entire album under the same name which was back in 2001.
Other albums that he has under him include; Unborn released 2004 and Tuishi Mi Nawa in 2007. Kimani is current working on his new album.
His unique soothing type of music has been described as the ‘African soul’ in which he sings in three different languages; English, Kiswahili and Kikuyu mixed with a little bit of rhumba and RnB addressing the everyday issues of life.
“My music comes from the heart,It is in my essence, and that's what comes through my music.” He says.
