The tale begins during Pia Pounds' S.4 vacation when she ventured into the corporate world, working as a salesperson at the Insurance Company of East Africa. Little did she know that this seemingly unrelated job would become a stepping stone to her musical dreams.

While at the insurance company, fate intervened when she crossed paths with a generous benefactor who offered to sponsor her first song. This mysterious figure, impressed by Pia Pounds' potential, financed the recording of her debut track at Jahlive Studio, where she had the serendipitous encounter with producer Kusseim.

The collaboration with Kusseim ignited a musical journey for Pia Pounds, and they began recording songs together. However, despite their efforts, nothing materialized, and the young artist lost contact with Kusseim due to academic commitments.

Fast forward to her second year at university, a pivotal moment arrived when a call from New York, associated with Big Talent Entertainment, altered the course of Pia Pounds' musical destiny. Kusseim, her erstwhile collaborator, had switched to Big Talent, and this reconnection set the stage for the next chapter in her career. The year was 2016, and it marked the beginning of her association with Eddy Kenzo's record label.

Despite the initial promise, a year passed with little progress. Yet, in the face of uncertainty, Kusseim remained a source of encouragement. Finally, in 2018, after having recorded approximately 14 songs, Pia Pounds secured her first record label deal with Big Talent Entertainment.

However, success often comes with its challenges, and Pia Pounds faced a wave of criticism and attacks from fans of Rema, Eddy Kenzo's baby mama. This led her to part ways with Big Talent, highlighting the complexities that artists sometimes face in the industry.

Pia Pounds' journey is deeply rooted in her early exposure to music, having grown up singing in church and accompanying her elder half-brother, a budding singer, to the studio. The influence of artists like Aziz Azion and Ragga Dee shaped her formative years, with collaborations and experiences at studios like West End and DV Records becoming instrumental in her growth.

One standout moment in Pia Pounds' career came with the release of 'Just the Way You Are' in 2011, a collaboration with Ragga Dee. The song, conceived during her S.4 vacation while working at the Insurance Company of East Africa, marked the beginning of her musical journey.

Despite facing setbacks and criticisms, Pia Pounds persevered, and her breakthrough came with the release of 'Tupaate' in September 2020. The song achieved massive success in April 2021, transforming her financial landscape and solidifying her position in the Ugandan music scene.

While some may point to 'Tupaate' as her breakthrough, Pia Pounds believes that "Taala" was the turning point in her career. Regardless of opinions, her story is a testament to the power of passion, resilience, and the unexpected twists that can shape an artist's journey in the world of music.
