The turning point came when DJ Shinski's friend introduced him to Virtual DJ, a software that would become the gateway to his deejaying journey. Practicing daily at home, his skills developed until he found himself behind the decks, performing live for enthusiastic crowds. His matatu-inspired dream had taken flight.

Transitioning from a hobbyist to a professional DJ was no easy feat. While pursuing a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and working a full-time job, DJ Shinski deejayed at house and private parties. It was in 2010, with a residency in several Houston, Texas clubs, that he recognized his potential and began taking deejaying seriously.

Leaving his engineering job in 2018, DJ Shinski embraced the life of a full-time professional DJ, traveling the world and performing in countries like France, UK, Belgium, Canada, Jamaica, and, of course, Kenya. His journey reflects the fusion of passion, talent, and relentless dedication.

The move to the U.S. was not without its challenges. The initial encounter with snow in Minnesota during winter was a shock, but the warmth of family in Houston provided solace. Amidst the cultural diversity and opportunities, DJ Shinski encountered subtle racism, an experience he navigated by educating himself about human psychology and promoting positivity in every encounter.

Deejaying in the U.S. brought both challenges and excitement. The diverse culture allowed him to interact with audiences from around the world, but breaking into the American scene required proving his capability to entertain. Extensive research on American music preferences and relentless practice paved the way for DJ Shinski to win over audiences effortlessly.
