Rayvanny, one of Tanzania's most popular Bongo Flava singers, has revealed that he lost Sh70 million while trying to set up a video set for his Wasafi Festival performance in Mbeya.
The BET Award winner uploaded a video on his YouTube channel detailing the construction of a temporary swimming pool at the Sokoine football pitch for his 2023 Wasafi Festival performance. The short documentary depicts the construction of the swimming pool, but despite the strenuous efforts of the builders, the pool collapsed after completion, resulting in Rayvanny's financial loss.
Despite the setback, Rayvanny's show went on, and other artists stepped up and delivered spectacular stage performances with elaborate and imaginative sets. Diamond Platnumz made a grand entrance, performing on a multi-level stage constructed from shipping containers, while Zuchu took the stage in a classroom-themed set, donning a primary school uniform alongside her dancers. Mbosso captivated the audience by performing in a traditional long gown known as Dera in Swahili.

The swimming pool incident isn't the first time Rayvanny has invested a significant budget to bring a project to life. When filming his 2022 music video 'I Miss You' featuring Zuchu, the singer disclosed that he constructed a brand new house from the ground up, only to intentionally set it on fire for a specific scene in the video.
Rayvanny's dedication to his craft and his willingness to invest in his performances are commendable, even though his recent swimming pool mishap was costly.
Rayvanny, whose real name is Raymond Shaban Mwakyusa, was born in Mbeya, Tanzania, in 1993. He began singing and songwriting at a young age, and in 2011, he won the regional Serengeti rap freestyle competition. In 2012, he was signed to WCB Wasafi Records, one of the biggest record labels in Tanzania.
The Bongo Flava superstar released his debut album, 'Afro East,' in 2019. The album was a commercial success, and it featured a number of hit songs, including 'Kwetu,' 'Tetema,' and 'Number One.' Rayvanny's sophomore album, 'High School,' was released in 2021. The album was even more successful than his debut album, and it featured a number of hit songs, including 'Jeshi,' 'Kwangwaru,' and 'Single Again.;
He has won numerous awards for his music, including the BET Award for Best International Act (Africa) in 2022. He has also collaborated with a number of other artists, including Davido, Tiwa Savage, and Diamond Platnumz.
He is one of the most popular singers in the country, and his music has inspired a new generation of artists. He has also helped to popularize Bongo Flava music around the world. Rayvanny is known for his energetic live performances and his catchy songs. He often incorporates elements of other genres, such as Afrobeat and R&B, into his music. He is also known for his willingness to experiment with new sounds.
