In the tumultuous world of the Nigerian music industry, where fame and fortune often come at a high cost, tales of resilience and determination often remain hidden beneath the spotlight. The story of Skibii, the rising star who found himself at the center of a shocking death hoax, is one such tale of triumph over adversity.

In August 2015, the music world was shaken by a startling rumor: Nigerian music artist Skibii had allegedly slumped and died. The news sent shockwaves through the industry, leaving fans and fellow artists in disbelief. Skibii's name was suddenly on everyone's lips, but not for the reasons he had hoped.

Skibii finally broke his silence during an interview with Afrobeats Podcast in 2023 addressing the lingering rumors surrounding his supposed demise and how it inadvertently launched his career to incredible heights. He revealed that the incident that marked his entry into the music scene was neither an intentional stunt nor a calculated move for fame.

He began by acknowledging the relentless speculations that followed the news of his death. He stated, "Maybe many people have forgotten; I started my career with news that Skibii has died. Skibii faked his death." His words carried the weight of a past shrouded in mystery and misinterpretation.

The singer then offered a glimpse into the circumstances that led to the death hoax. He disclosed that he had been grappling with a medical condition that caused him to lose consciousness unexpectedly.

"At that time, I had that issue like I do black out. That happened to me like twice," he confessed.

He went on to narrate two pivotal incidents that had forever changed the course of his life. The first incident occurred on a flight to South Africa. He recalled that on the plane to South Africa, he went to the toilet, and on his way back, he fell. The plan was shut down and attended to him before taking off again.

The second incident took place at the home of Kaycee, Skibii's brother and manager. "So this particular one happened when I went to see my brother. On my way out, I fell; as people saw how they rushed me into the vehicle, they started to spread my death news," Skibii shared.

The aftermath of that fateful fall was a whirlwind of social media posts, with condolences and tributes pouring in from fellow artists like Wizkid and Davido. Skibii was suddenly thrust into the spotlight, but not as he had ever imagined. It was a moment that could have defined the end of a promising career.

However, Skibii's story took an unexpected turn. Rather than succumbing to the weight of the rumors, he embarked on a journey to reclaim his identity. He flew to America for treatment, determined to address the underlying health issues that had plagued him.

The artist's revelation shed light on the tremendous challenges he faced during his recovery. He discovered certain foods triggered his medical condition, such as pineapple and lime, forcing him to make significant lifestyle changes.

His journey, marked by resilience, perseverance, and the determination to overcome adversity, became the driving force behind his music career. He no longer wanted to be defined by the rumors of his death but by the music that flowed from his heart.

With hits like 'Sensima,' 'Daz How Star Do,' and 'Big Engine,' Skibii rose to prominence in the Nigerian music scene. His unique sound and infectious melodies garnered him a dedicated fan base and the recognition he had long dreamed of. He had triumphed over the rumors that had threatened to overshadow his talent.

Today, Skibii stands as a symbol of resilience, proving that even the darkest moments can lead to newfound strength and success. His journey serves as a reminder that sometimes, it's the unexpected challenges that propel us toward our greatest achievements.
