Asake stunned West Africa by becoming Ghana Music Awards’ (VGMA) Best African Artist in 2023.
He was the only Nigerian artist who won an award in over 15 categories in the awards ceremony.
Asake beat big names in Naija music industry to emerge the best. He elbowed out Ayra Starr, Burna Boy, and Kizz Daniel. He also elbowed out breakout Cameroonian American sensation Libianca and The Therapist.
The ‘Peace Be Unto You’ singer won his first AFRIMMA award in 2022. He won under the ‘Artist of The Year’ category, once again silencing big names in the game such as Burna Boy and Diamond Platnumz.
Meanwhile, Asake’s VGMA award comes shortly after the release of his second single of 2023 ‘2:30’.
The YNBL Empire musician made a comeback with a brand-new song that had outright Amapiano beats from beginning to end along with a hint of pop.
This song was co-produced by BlaiseBeatz and Magicsticks, who showcased Asake's outstanding musical talent in the new Amapiano-infused soundtrack.
Asake guides his listeners through each verse and chorus with ease and joy using magic and a wealth of musical knowledge.
He called the song ""2:30"" because of the fast speed throughout, which explores a pretty intriguing theme of the night's events.
