Legendary soccer player Dennis Oliech is reportedly set to be named the next head coach of the Kenyan national football team Harambee Stars. In what has been termed a bold move, Football Kenya Federation (FKF) President Nick Mwendwa settled on Dennis Oliech in a bid to change Harambee Stars' tactical play to the offensive. The decision comes shortly after the FKF boss was cleared of Sh38 million in corruption charges.

Dennies Oliech has a rich history in national football. He played for Harambee Stars as a striker for over a decade during which he propelled the national team to the Africa Cup of Nations. The football star who started making a name for himself while in high school, gradually rose up the ranks through local clubs to the global level.

Whereas his appointment has been met with a warm reception, it has also sparked concern among various football stakeholders. The appointment puts the current three-year contract between Coach Engin Firat and Harambee Stars in limbo. The football federation has previously paid a heavy price for unlawfully terminating the contract of coaches, and it remains unknown how the situation will work out with Firat.

The FKF is, however, yet to publicly make the appointment official. Nick Mwendwa is expected to release an official report on the new organization of the national team soon.
