The family of the late South African music star Kiernan Jarryd Forbes, alias AKA, has asked the public to be calm and patient as the investigation into the murder of the singer continues. In a press statement that was issued on March 29th, 2023, Mr Tony Forbes and Mrs Lynn Forbes acknowledged the anguish and unrest among fans and friends of the late.

The Forbes, however, insisted that irresponsible accusations and assumptions will cause more harm than good, citing that detectives should be given ample time to conduct their job. The family further requested AKA's fans to continue mourning and celebrating his life and achievements.

"We are aware of the growing public discontent related to the progress which has been made in the investigation. However, as a family, we are deeply concerned that irresponsible actions, accusations, and assumptions may cause more harm than good," AKA's parents stated.

"At this time, we call on the Megacy to mourn responsibly and ask for patience so that the law enforcers have the space to do their job. We humbly request that you continue celebrating Kieran's life, preserve his memory and continue his legacy through his music. Your joyous celebration of his life gives us comfort," they added.

The bereaved family has further raised concern about false requests for donations and investments from fake people posing as members of the Forbes family. Forbes reiterated that they have not opened any channels for donations or investments.

AKA died on February 10th, 2023 after he was shot by unknown assailants outside a restaurant in the coastal city of Durban. The motive behind the shooting remains unknown. According to the Police Spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda, the rapper was in the company of his friends when two armed men approached them and shot him at a close range.
