Gor Mahia is a Kenyan football club based in Nairobi. The club was founded in 1968 and was initially named Luo Union Football Club. The name was later changed to Gor Mahia in honor of a famous Luo warrior who led the resistance against British colonial rule in the late 19th century.

The club has a rich history and has been one of the most successful football clubs in Kenya. In 1970, Gor Mahia won their first major trophy, the Kenyan Premier League, and went on to dominate Kenyan football for the next decade. During this time, the club won  5 league titles, four Kenyan Cups, and one CECAFA Club Cup.

In the 1980s, Gor Mahia continued to be a dominant force in Kenyan football and won four more league titles, two more Kenyan Cups, and another CECAFA Club Cup. The club's success continued into the 1990s, with the team winning three more league titles, one Kenyan Cup, and two more CECAFA Club Cups.

However, the 2000s were a difficult period for Gor Mahia. The team struggled to compete with other Kenyan clubs and failed to win any major trophies. In 2008, the club was even relegated to the second division of Kenyan football, but they managed to bounce back to the top flight the following year.

Since then, Gor Mahia has been on an upward trajectory and has once again established itself as one of the top clubs in Kenya. In 2013, the team won the Kenyan Premier League for the first time in 18 years, and they went on to win the league title again in 2014, 2015, 2017, and 2018.

Gor Mahia has also had some success in continental competitions. The team reached the quarter-finals of the African Cup Winners' Cup in 1988 and 1993 and reached the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup in 2018.

Throughout its history, Gor Mahia has had some of the best players in Kenyan football, including legendary striker Mahmoud Abbas, midfielder Austin Oduor, and goalkeeper Jerim Onyango.

Despite some ups and downs, Gor Mahia remains one of the most popular and successful football clubs in Kenya, with a passionate fan base that is known for its unwavering support.
