Gor Mahia is still recovering from a humiliating 2-1 defeat it suffered last Wednesday at the hands of 15th-placed Mathare United. Jonathan MCKinstry's side failed to extend its dominance of the league after Mathare United's Daniel Otieno scored a last-minute goal. Mathare United was the first one to see the back of the net courtesy of Douglas Kibet in the 7th minute before Benson Omalla equalized 15 minutes into the second half. It was, however, Daniel Otieno's goal in the 82nd minute that saw Gor Mahia walk home pointless.

KÓgalo, now leading on the FKF Premier league table with 37 points, will have a tough assignment on Wednesday 8th March as it plays against Nzoia Sugar.  The second-placed Nzoia Sugar is desperate to reclaim its number-one spot on the table after it was dethroned. So far Salim Babu's boys have successfully evaded a loss in the last five matches they have played in the league.

Of utmost significance, is the fact that Gor Mahia has not had favourable encounters with Nzoia Sugar. Out of the last five matches the two sides played against each other, Gor Mahia has only won once and drawn twice. In February 2021 Nzoia Sugar beat Gor Mahia 2-1. Approximately 6 months later Nzoia Sugar handed a 2-0 humiliation to Gor Mahia. The next two encounters ended up in a 1-1 draw. It was in November 2022 that KÓgalo managed a 1-0 victory over Nzoia Sugar.

Will Gor Mahia's determination to stay on top of the league match up to Nzoia Sugar's desperation to reclaim its glory? Wednesday 8th March will be the day to find out.
