It was a roller-coaster of emotions at Anfield stadium on Tuesday night as Liverpool played against Real Madrid in the Champions League round of 16. What started as a good day in the office for The Reds quickly turned into their worst nightmare. Barely 14 minutes into the match, one could have hardly imagined that Klopp's side would be eliminated from the league.

Liverpool took an early commanding lead courtesy of Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah in the 4th and 14th minutes respectively. The mood among Liverpool fans turned electric as they burst into early celebrations with the hope of registering a consecutive win.

Real Madrid, however, unleashed the beast mode that earned them one of the best comebacks in football history at Anfield stadium. Vinicius Junior scored Real Madrid's first goal in the 21st minute. The youngster then capitalized on Alisson Becker's error in the 36th minute to score an equalizer.

Eder Militao scored the third goal for Real Madrid 2 minutes into the second half. It was, however, Karim Benzema who cemented Real Madrid's victory with 2 more goals in the 55th and 67th minutes. Liverpool's efforts to pull off a comeback bore no fruits. As the final whistle was blown, Klopp's boys walked off the pitch extremely disappointed.

What next for Liverpool? The Reds will travel to Madrid, Spain on March 15 on a nearly impossible mission of overturning the three-goal deficit.
