Multi-award-winning Kenyan hip-hop star Khaligraph Jones has finally released the much-anticipated collaboration with Tanzanian singer Harmonize. The song, which is titled 'Kwame', is the first music project from Khaligraph Jones in 2023. 'Kwame' is a motivational song that is based on the real-life experience of the two music stars.
The storyline explores the struggles and challenges of rising to stardom and the responsibility that artists have to positively impact society. Khaligraph Jones through a slow rap expresses gratitude to his fans for showing his music career immense support. He goes ahead to recount how he pursued his passion for music even when the odds were against him. Harmonize joins in the second half of the song and takes it to its peak. The Konde Music Worldwide boss narrates his journey in music from being an upcoming artist to one of the most celebrated African musicians.
The chorus of the song is motivated by celebrated Ghanaian freedom fighter and politician Kwame Nkurumah. The two artists symbolically compare themselves to the legendary politician. The song further celebrates Kwame Nkrumah as one of the strongest politicians in the political history of Africa.
In addition, 'Kwame' preaches peace and political tolerance in society. A lot of investment was made in the music video to align the storyline with the lyrics and the message of the song. Scenes of ghetto areas and armed youths propagate the theme of the song. Unlike the majority of artists who prefer to showcase the urban setup and fancy lifestyle, Khaligraph Jones opts for the complete opposite.
Being his first project of the year, Khaligraph Jones invested heavily in the song in all aspects. From the audio to the video, and even the choice of the artist to feature on the song; every single detail was strategic. The performance of the song has appreciated the investment. In less than 24 hours of its premier on YouTube, 'Kwame' had accrued close to half a million views. Fans are more anxious to see what Khaligraph Jones has in store next.
