English Premier League's second-placed Manchester City came three points closer to overtaking Arsenal as the league leaders following a 3-1 win against Aston Villa. Pep Guardiola's side now stands a chance of jumping to the first position if it beats Arsenal on Wednesday.

Manchester City's weekend match has, however, left a cloud of tension at Etihad after the team's star striker Erling Haaland suffered an injury. The forward was withdrawn from the match against Aston Villa after a collision with Emi Martinez. He was later seen receiving treatment for what is suspected to be a thigh injury.

Pep Guardiola, while addressing the reporters after the match, admitted that he was yet to be briefed on the details of Halaand's suspected injury. It remains unknown whether the 22-year-old will be back on the field for his team's most crucial match of the season.

"I don't know, he had a big knock and he wasn't comfortable. We will see and we will assess in the next few days. If he's not ready, we'll play another one. Hopefully, he's ready like everyone but we'll see," pep Guardiola stated.

Halaand's inclusion in Manchester City's squad against Arsenal on Wednesday will be instrumental. Not only is he responsible for the majority of City's victories, but also ranks as the player with the highest number of goals in the English Premier League for the 2022/23 season.
