Kenyan artists have secured prestigious nominations at the 2023 Soundcity MVP awards.  The annual event which is presented by Soundcity TV ranks among the most coveted music awards on the continent. It is aimed at awarding African musicians in various categories for their work in the music industry.

Kenya is well-represented in various categories at the awards. Hip-Hop group Wakadinali earned a spot in the best New MVP category where they will compete against the likes of Black Sherif, Ruger, Costa Titch, Ayra Star among others.

'Mbwe Mbwe' hit makers Bien and Aaron Rimbui were nominated in the Song Of The Year category for their viral song. Other notable nominees in the category include Omah Lay, Burna boy, Camidoh, Kizz Daniel, Asake, and Mayorkun, just to mention a few.

BET nominee Khaligrraph Jones will be going head to head against Black Sherif, Blaqbones, Nasty C, and AKA among others for the Best Hip Hop song of the year. Wakadiinali has also earned a spot in the category courtesy of their hit song 'Geri Inengi'.

The nominations have been met with a warm reception among various stakeholders in the Kenyan music industry. Many have noted that this is a sign of Kenyan music's penetration into the global market.
