Cristiano Ronaldo's fans will have to wait a little longer to see him in action in the Saudi Arabian League. The striker will not make his debut for AlNassr on Thursday night as earlier expected following a two-match ban that was imposed by the FA.

The ban followed a lengthy investigation in which Ronaldo was accused of smashing a fan's phone in April 2022 during a clash between Manchester United and Everton. The five-time Ballon d'Or winner appeared to be frustrated after the Red Devils conceded a 1-0 defeat to Everton at Goodison Park. He was filmed smacking a fan's phone as he walked to the tunnel after the disappointing match.

The FA ruled that the football star's conduct was not only improper but also violent. As a result of breaching the FA Rule E3, he was handed a two-game suspension. The former Manchester United forward at the time issued an apology to the victim and his fans.

The punishment is set to take effect from Ronaldo's next game as per FIFA regulations. Article 12.1 of FIFA’s Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players, directs that a disciplinary sanction imposed on a player by the former association should be enforced by the new association at which the player has been registered.

AlNassr has reportedly sold out all 28,000 seats for its Thursday night match against Al Ta’ee. Ronaldo had earlier on, indicated that he was ready to make his debut for the team.
