Senegalese-American R&B star Akon is looking at signing Ghanaian rapper Black Sherif.

Speaking to Eddie Kadi on BBC Radio 1Xtra, Akon sang praises of the young Ghanaian rapper popularly known as ‘Blacko’. He acknowledged being a major admirer of Black Sherif adding that he makes him think of the vigour with which he first emerged as an artist back in the day.

Akon added that when he listens to Black Sherif's music, the only thing he hears is creativity. The young Ghanaian musician's emotional portrayal of his life experience in his music is incredibly authentic.

In most cases, he is sharing his battle to escape the ghetto and tells a genuine life narrative that many people can relate to in real life. His ability to infuse lessons of pain, difficulties and struggles in his music makes him a gem for any recording label.

Based on his creativity, Akon is looking at signing him with his label, Konvict Muzik. “If no major picks him up, they need to get to him before I do,” he said.

The 20-year-old singer portrays an image of a young man going through life in the ghetto and battling a myriad of problems. In retrospect, he comes from a fairly solid background but he finds the reality of life a better concept to premise his music on.
