Mohammed Ismail Sheriff, alias Black Sherif has been nominated for MTV Europe Music Awards (MTV EMA 2022) for the first time under the Best African Act category.
The Ghanaian rapper is competing against Nigerian Afrobeats superstars Burna Boy, Ayra Starr, and Tems. South African Amapiano star, Musa Keys and Zuchu of Tanzania were also nominated in this category. The nominees were made public on MTV Europe's official website and fans can now cast their votes to choose the winners.
The MTV EMA 2022 will be held on November 13, 2022, in Düsseldorf, Germany, at PSD Bank Dome, according to an official announcement on the website. It is anticipated that MTV will broadcast the event live in more than 170 nations.
Black Sherif’s MTV Europe Music Awards 2022 nomination comes shortly after his victory at the recently concluded Ghana Music Awards UK where he bagged three awards. He was named the Artist of the Year, Hiplife/Hip Hop Artist of the Year and New Artist of the Year.
Fans are hoping he will bring the awards home especially after losing out to Gabon-born French rapper Benjamin Epps in the ‘Best International Flow’ category at the 2022 BET Hip Hop Awards.
