Tiwa Savage to Receive Kent Honorary Degree Award This July

Talented Nigerian singer Tiwa Savage is the epitome of success for women in Nigeria’s music industry and now she is set to receive the prestigious Kent Honorary Degree Award this month.

While the world of academia works differently only awarding honoraries to leaders and those who’ve done exceptionally well in their scholarly journey.

But, there is a departure from this norm now with the inclusion of Tiwa Savage for the noble recognition of her contribution to global music. The ‘All Over’ hitmaker joins 10 other distinguished personalities from around the world set to receive the July 15 award at the Canterbury Cathedral.

The Honourary degree is to celebrate the efforts and impact that her music has across the world. Unknown to many though, Tiwa Savage is a Kent University alumni having studied for her accounting degree there.

She later pursued a second degree in music from Berklee College of Music. Her music is known for not remaining silent on aching matters concerning the female gender in society.

Her songs talk about actual societal issues revolving around politics, economy, and survival stemming from the cores of Africa. But, she has a soft spot too for love and relationships which she profoundly delivers in her charming style.

Tiwa Savage, who is presently on a world tour, has imprinted her influence on popular culture and modified intangible notions about the roles that women play in the music industry and the entertainment business more generally.
