Billboard Announce Wizkid as Longest Charting African Artist

Nigerian superstar singer, Wizkid has just been announced as the longest-charting African Artist by American music and entertainment magazine, Billboard. 

The Grammy award-winning singer was able to achieve this feat with “Essence” being the longest-charting African song, and “Made in Lagos” the longest-charting African album. 

After nine months of release, Essence debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 at number 82 and enjoyed an impressive run which saw it peak at number 9, making it to only Nigerian record ever to break into the Billboard Hot 100 top 10.  Essence also dominated other charts like the R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay Chart and the Afrobeats chart where it has spent 12 weeks and peaked at number 2. Made In Lagos on the hand spent over 67 weeks on the Billboard world albums chart. 

Wizkid is gearing up for the release of his next album, More Love Less Ego slated for arrival on the 5th of August 2022.
