Nigerian RnB/Afrobeats singer Temilade Openiyi, better known by her stage name Tems has cancelled all her shows after being diagnosed with Reflux Laryngitis.

The superstar songstress made the sad announcement in a statement shared via her Instagram page Tuesday. She said that although it breaks her heart, she has no other option but to take a little break from music.

“It breaks my heart to say this but there has been no other option for me. I'm not feeling too good at the moment. After my last performance, I was diagnosed with Reflux Laryngitis and I have to take some time off to protect what's left of my voice," wrote Tems.

The ‘Damages’ hitmaker had a show in Birmingham on June 15 and her first London show on July 15 which she had to cancel. However, ticket shows purchased before remain valid.

The inflammation in the back of the throat known as reflux laryngitis is caused by stomach acid or other chemicals that go backwards from the stomach into the food pipe.
In most cases, this takes place during sleep. According to voicefoundation.org, It is treated by either medications which the patient has to take for about three to six months or by surgery.
