Tems Breaks Billboard Hot 100 Record

Superstar singer Tems has just added another star to her ranks after becoming the first-ever Nigerian artist to debut at number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. 

The new feat is courtesy of her feature on Future’s Wait For U, a record off the American rapper’s recently released album, “I Never Liked You”. The record also features Drake. 

Wait For U becomes Tems’ third Billboard Hot 100 entry following previous entries with her features on Drake’s Fountain and Wizkid’s Essence which also featured Justin Bieber.

Tems and Wizkid are now the only Nigerians with a Billboard Hot 100 number 1 record with Wizkid achieving the feat with his feature on Drake’s One Dance which peaked at number 1 and stayed there for over ten consecutive weeks. He is the first Nigerian artist to peak at number 1 while Tems is the first Nigerian artist to debut at number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. 

For clarification purposes, debuting at number 1 means making the first entry into the chart at number 1 while peaking is used to refer to the highest number a record has achieved on the chart.
