Davido Features in FIFA World Cup, Qatar 2022 Theme Song

Award-winning Nigerian Afropop/Afrobeat star Davido is over the moon for featuring in the official Fifa World Cup Qatar 2022 song. He features in this monumental song together with other music superstars – Trinidad from the US, Redone and Qatari sensation, Aisha.

Davido excitedly informed his fans of this development on his social media handles Friday. “Pleased to have featured and worked on the official @fifaworldcup Qatar 2022 song with @redone @trinidad @aishaofcl! Naija no make am but… NAIJA STILL MAKE AM! #fifaworldcupqatar2022,” read his Instagram post.

Artists drawn from all over Africa lauded the ‘If’ hitmaker for this new development. Broda Shaggi led the Nigerian pack while Ghana’s finest rapper Darkovibes celebrated Davido.
South African-based Zimbabwean born rapper King 98 also lauded Davido for this milestone.

Davido and others were chosen by FIFA because of their desire to "engage with audiences worldwide via the shared interests of football and music," according to FIFA's official page.
“The entertainment strategy was conceived to create innovative and meaningful connections between football fans, music enthusiasts, players, artists, and the game and songs they all love.
“The combination of breakthrough US star Trinidad Cardona, Afrobeats icon Davido and Qatari sensation Aisha captures the spirit of the FIFA World Cup™ and the FIFA Sound strategy by bringing together inspiration from across the globe,” FIFA said.

FIFA's chief commercial officer, Kay Madati, said “bringing together voices from the Americas, Africa, and the Middle East, this song symbolizes how music—and football—can connect the world." The track's first public performance will be tonight at 19:00 local time.
