Sunday's Carabao Cup final between Chelsea and Liverpool at the Wembley Stadium produced an episode of Hero to Zero for Kepa Arizabalaga as he skied his penalty skywards.
Prior to this, we had seen an enthralling end to end contest between both sides. Chelsea dominated the ball, having up to 54% of ball possession to Liverpool's 46%.
Liverpool were the more proactive side in the offence as they had 19 shots with 6 on target while Chelsea had 10 shots with 4 on target. Liverpool also had more 11 corner kicks to just 2 corner kicks to the Blues.
After a stalemate in 120 minutes, a pulsating spot-kick contest followed.
Thomas Tuchel's decision to take off Edouard Mendy and bring on Kepa ended as a farce as the Spaniard who had been the hero in previous similar scenarios became the fall guy. He failed to save any of the spot-kick, including his counterpart Kelleher's penalty.
In the end, it was a day to remember for the Liverpool goalkeeper as he was rightfully the man of the match.
It was indeed a spectacle for Liverpool fans who finally broke the monopoly of Pep Guardiola's side in the competition and even picked up their first silverware of the season.
