Deejay Showstar Stirs Debate Over Remarks on Live Performances by Artists

Zambia’s Deejay Showstar has elicited massive reactions online after he recently put out a statement, defending artists for performing a few songs, yet the crowd expects them to perform for hours during shows.

Showstar maintains that it is rude to infer that its unfair for an artist to get on stage and demand a lot of money for singing two or three songs. The Zambian entertainer says that people should understand performing live on stage is not an easy deal as many people think it is.

He says that fans need to know that if it was so easy for anybody to do music that people can pay for and vybe to, “even you would have done it”.

Secondly, he argued that it takes lots of years of investment and honing the skill to do great music and people should appreciate all this. He says that as an artist, “your main worry should be how you can enhance the standards as a dancer and give us dance moves that are worth thousands of Kwacha so that you may be able to demand for your worth.”

“Raise the Value in your Craft or shut up!” Showstar spoke following a raging debate when one of the top dancers complained getting meager earnings from artists.

Showstar’s remarks stirred a divise debate among fans. Some told him that it was such mentality that was crippling the music industry in Zambia so much that big clubs no longer play Zambian music.
