You probably knew Musa Keys not too long ago, but he always had a thing for the Amapiano genre even as a kid. However, it wasn’t a genre then but he still did his thing with the keyboard.
In fact, his stage name ‘Keys’ stems from his love for the piano. Music is his all-time love. He walked out of a civil engineering course to pursue sound engineering. He believed this would come in handy with his passion for music.

However, he dropped out of school in Damelin ‘to get rich’ as he puts it. He was in his second year and felt that he was all aware of everything being taught, he told The Unplug on YouTube.
Born Musa Appreciate Makamu, the Amapiano legend credits his closeness with church in his formative years to his success in music. Musa says his love for the piano started in church where he was a resident keyboardist.
He is so passionate about music that he refers to himself as the "Tsonga Michael Jackson," and strives to make each of his performances as memorable as possible, just like his idol.
As a result, he was known to sing directly to members of the audience during his performances. Covid-19 brought new challenges for artists, who had to think outside the box.
Musa Keys has produced several high-flying hits such as ‘Samarian Boy’, ‘Vula Mlomo’ and ‘Possible’. He thinks of himself as a creative and he is indeed. For his music, Keys says that gets his inspiration from positive energy within and around him. The fact that he in the past did trap music before taking on Amapiano expands his musical wit.
