In today’s world, a strong social media presence has a direct correlation with musical success for artists and Zambian artists are no exception to this. The more the followers on social platforms, the bigger the fan base gets. It is this solid fan base that promotes music by and artists. They are – figuratively – the soldiers in the battlefield.

In Zambia, three artists are in the race to hit one million followers on Facebook which is no mean feat. This means a lot more for their music career. But, who are they?

Yo Maps

The ‘So Chabe’ hit maker has 895,000 followers on Facebook. He has come a long way to command such huge numbers in these circles. His star shone well in 2021 courtesy of years of toil and patience. ‘So Chabe’ set the stage for him in 2020 and coming into 2021, ‘Pick It Up’ elevated his status. It is from here that things solidified and ended up releasing his first album ‘Komando’ after ten years.

T-Sean

T-Sean’s last few months of 2021 were not easy but he put up the brave face of a man who is not giving up yet. T-Sean is one of the few top dancehall artists in Zambia. His music has been widely accepted in the country and across the borders. His music delivery and consistency in an almost deserted genre keeps winning him fans. He has 831,000 followers hitherto.

Macky 2

He is and remains one of Zambia’s most favourite artists. Macky 2 never loses his allure in the eyes of Zambians - not even after PF campaigns. Macky has 876,000 followers on Facebook and this number keeps growing by the day.
