When South African songbird Makhadzi recently set out for Nigeria, all she wanted and expected was to perform at the 2021 AFRIMA edition.

However, there was more in store for her. Besides performing, she was one of the AFRIMA awards recipients.

Makhadzi won an award under the Best Artist, duo or group in the African Electro category, something she did not expect.

“The important thing about me going to Nigeria was to perform without knowing that God prepared good news for me. If I knew, I was going back and dress my beautiful dress again after performance,” she wrote.

As soon as she got the award, she asserted herself as an international artist and has one man to thank for her success; Mr Brown. He is a veteran music producer working with Open Mic Productions.

“Hi my name is Makhadzi an international award winning artist. Congratulations to myself, the whole team and my fans for winning this award. It’s possible black child. Your love and support is too much thank you very much. @mrbrownsa thank you very much for always pushing me to believe in myself when I am in studio, I always deliver the best because of your contribution, God bless you,” she posted.

Makhadzi has come a long way from a street performer to being one of the most decorated artists in Mzansi at the moment.
