The story behind ‘Madobie Dobie’ hit by Zambian gospel singer Yellow Dove is inspiring. It speaks of a man who came from a dark place and rose again even when he thought all is lost in life.

In a recent narration to his fans, Yellow Dove said he sank into depression after losing deals and friends. He also battled an undisclosed addiction.

It was such a purposeless period for him – he would wake up without a plan, not knowing what to do or what to say. He questioned his purpose daily.

“I spent a whole year depressed and low and just inside the house for fear of facing the world as what I termed a failure.

“I dint want to do music or step in the studio. I was so upset with life and God,” he said.

Then, he woke up one day with severe depression and there was only one option left; turn back to God and seek a purpose in life. He prayed daily about it and one day, he felt some kind of joy which he had never felt through the year.

Finally, he went back to the studio and did his first song after a long period of silence.

“When I went back to the studio the first song I did is called Madobie Dobie. That’s why the words say I forget the former things I neva (sic) dwell in the past, when trouble comes my way am like this too shall pass...the song was describing what I had just gone through and how I needed God to mek me happy and mek me feel the joy which is called Madobie Dobie (sic),” he narrated.
