Cleo Ice Queen Bags ‘Best Female Southern Artist’ at 2021 AFRIMA Awards

Zambian hip-hop star Cleo Ice Queen has hit another milestone in her career by winning an AFRIMA award.

She won an award in the ‘Best Female Southern Africa’ category battling the like of Nomcebo Zikode, Makhadzi, Kamp Mphela, Zanda Zakuza and Zimbabwe’s Tamy Moyo.

In her acceptance speech in Nigeria where the ceremony went down, Cleo attributed her success to her husband, children and fans.

“A big thank you to God who is my light and salvation. A big thank you to my husband, my family and friends; my greatest support system. A big thank you to my team that makes things happen. iggest thank you to #IceQueenNation the #IceyGang the #IceyOnes the #IceQubez for the constant love and support! You guys did this!” she posted.

“Thank you @afrima.official for putting this award show together and elevating African pop culture!” she added.

The award comes a few days after she released ‘Osaibala’ music video.

In ‘Osaibala’, she communicates in precise terms how she's paved the way for female rappers and how she has made it through, despite the challenges of the game.

The song was produced by Crown Beats and Magician while the video was shot and directed by DJ LO of Reel Studios.

Listening to the new release, you can feel the confidence she is talking about right from the start to the end of the song.

“I am confident, you can call me cocky but I am confident, if it dripping dropping then I am rocking it…” the song’s lyrics read in part.
